Welcome Message

Dr. Ralph E. Gonsalves
Prime Minister
St. Vincent and The Grenadines

Bequia lies 14km (9 miles) south of St Vincent and measures 18 sq km (7 sq miles).
Little changed by time, it is an island on which life is completely oriented to the sea.
It can be reached by boat, although an airport, J F Mitchell, was opened in May 1992.
Its seclusion has ensured it retained its age-old traditions of boat building and fishing.
In the marine park, spearfishing, snares and nets are prohibited.
The islanders themselves are the world's last hand-harpooners
and claim that their activities do not affect marine stocks, unlike the mechanised fishing of some fleets.

The Village Apartments - CLICK to Visit
The centre of the island is hilly and forested,
providing a dramatic backdrop to the bays and beaches.

Lower Bay, Bequia - Visit The Kingsville Apartments
Admiralty Bay, the island's natural harbour,
is a favourite anchoring spot for yachtsmen from all over the world,
and here visitors can watch men building their boats by hand on the shores.
The attractive region around Lower Bay has good opportunities for swimming and other watersports.

The quaint waterfront of Port Elizabeth is lined with bars, restaurants and craft shops.
Bequia is encircled by gold-sand beaches, many of which disappear into coves, excellent for sailing, scuba diving and snorkelling. Lodgings vary from luxurious resort cottages to small, simple West Indian inns.
Much of the nightlife centres on the hotels and beachside barbecues, invariably accompanied by a steel band.

Getting to Bequia has always been a bit of a problem
but things are improving

I use Barbados for my clients. You can now start checking on flights to/from Barbados. If you can arrange to get there any day before 16:00, I will connect you to your Grenadine island destination on our 50-minute flight. We will do the flight and the room together as a package. Yes, you'll sleep here in the islands that first night but you'll have to get to Barbados arriving before 4PM
as we have no night landings here in The Grenadines.

Flights depart Barbados daily around 12:30 and 16:30.
The return from Bequia gets you back to Barbados around 12 Noon.
The flight takes about 50-minutes and you have 20kg (44lbs.) luggage allowance.
Currently, a round-trip ticket costs:
US$320 + US$60 Fuel + US$32 Barbados Airport Authority Fee = US$412

Remember that when you arrive Barbados, you will be "in transit" and you will not have to worry with your luggage, immigration or customs.  Our friendly agent will meet your arrival as you deplane the steps on Barbados; will take you to the "In Transit" check-in located just inside the Arrival Terminal Building.  And then it's off to your gate where your plane awaits.  Always pack essentials in your carry-on in case your luggage has to follow on tommorow's flight.

Currently, roundtrip prices via Barbados:
> Bequia Island @US$412/person/roundtrip
> Canouan Island @US$412/person/roundtrip
> Mustique Island @US$502/person/roundtrip
> Union Island @US$412/person/roundtrip
* Including US$60 fuel surcharge and US$32 Barbados Airport Authority Fee.

We will then arrange all your connections to your island hideaway and return.

Travelling to Bequia, which is 9 miles south of St. Vincent,
is easiest by ferry which leaves from the Ferry Boat Warf in Kingstown harbor
(see above.)
Bequia can also be reached by air, only 10 minutes flying from St. Vincent or Union Island, by both scheduled and chartered flights. Once on Bequia there are a number of taxis available and small buses that can go out from Port Elizabeth. The climate is tropical with temperatures ranging from 75F to 87F.

Due to the mountainous terrain, temperatures and rainfall vary acording to altitude. The drier months are from December to June. The electricity supply is 220 volts, 50 cycles. Appliances rated at 110 volts normally work satisfactorily with a transformer. Most hotels provide dual voltage shaver units.

Citizens of the USA, Canada and the UK can spend up to 6 months in Bequia (St. Vincent & The Grenadines) with either a valid passport or other proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate and a photo ID. All other visitors must present a valid passport and a visa. All visitors must present an on-going or return ticket. Visitors to the islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines may bring up to one quart of wine and spirits, 50 cigars, and 200 cigarettes into the country without paying duty.
